Effective April of 2010, each contractor conducting remodeling, renovating and/or painting activities in homes built before 1978 will have to have at least one member of their crew certified as a Lead Safe Renovator.
This course satisfies the training requirement to obtain certification as a Lead-Safe Renovator through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Topics covered include background information on lead, health effects of exposure to lead, regulations, worksite preparation, conducting interim control and non-abatement activities, worksite clean-up, disposal and recordkeeping requirements.
Persons who may be required to be certified include:
- Contractors and Remodelers
- Painters
- Rental property owners who do their own improvements
- Specialty contractors whose activities affect painted surfaces in dwellings and child occupied facilities that were built before 1978
This course is also satisfies the training requirements under HUD rules for persons conducting non-abatement LBP activity as part of a federally funded project.
This course will provide 8 continuing education credits toward the Wisconsin Dwelling Contractor Qualifier certification and/or 6 Minnesota Building Contractor continuing education hours.
Attendees must provide a picture ID (drivers license, passport, etc.) at check-in on the day of the course.
