Thoughts on My Downtime

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage

Another weekend has come and gone. I find that since entering the Real Estate profession weekends have a different meaning to me. In past professions I worked M-F and an occasional Sat. so weekends were greatly anticipated. Usually starting about Wednesday.

I still look forward to them but in a different way. Saturdays in particular are for buyers, open houses, door knocking those expires or unrepresented sellers (FSBO)that I could not contact during the week, maybe even getting in a little floor duty since it's voluntary in our office.

Sundays ,however, I do my best to make my day of rest. We all need time to worship, meditate, recreate, read the Sunday funnies, lounge around, play with the kids or see a movie. You get the idea. Yea I know an occasional buyer from out of town will always put a kink in my plans but that's life. Sometimes you have to squeeze in your down time which is what I did this weekend.

We managed a dinner party on Saturday evening and had a chance to see The Bourne Ultimatum on Sunday afternoon.  I also try and use Sundays to catch up on reading AR blogs and trying to come up with thoughts on my own blog,(perhaps after reading this blog you may think I should have spent more time on this activity) and perhaps reviewing my schedule for the coming week to see where I might be able to squeeze in a little fly-fishing during the week.

Sometimes in this profession we get so busy we have to schedule our downtime. That's okay just be sure it's an appointment you keep. You will be a better Realtor ® for it.
