Hard at work... or hardly working?

Market getting you down?  Take a tip from a dog.  When the going gets tough, the tough go outside to play.

So what do you do when the going gets tough?

Salary.com's recent survey says that employees spend about 1.7 hours of a typical 8.5-hour day at work on non-work related things like the Internet, socializing with coworkers and conducting personal business.

Do you remember the days when there were never enough hours in the day to get all of your work done? Now, when the market is tough, there is more free time to "play" with.   How about instead of playing, use that extra time to try reinventing yourself.  Find a new niche.  Work on your marketing materials.  Learn about a new marketing concept.  Turn something you love into your next big idea.

Or just go outside and play with a tennis ball.  Seems to work for these two.

Wow, way back when, when the going gets tuff the tuff keep working. But in realty you should take time off and your mind will think better and you will accomplish more after a break.

Molly, can we work all day long without some diversion?  I once worked for someone who allowed us 15 minutes of every hour just to do whatever.  It was great and at the end of the day our work was always completed.  Personally, I need some down time, regardless of how down the market it.

Everyone needs some down time, I agree.  We enjoy a run with the dogs a few times every day.  We got this great picture on Friday of the two burning off some steam, so I thought I would share it.  It just made me think that in this market there is there more 'down' time than usual lately, and what a great time it would be to think about some new marketing ideas for yourself.

Oh my dear Molly.  We're currently feeling the "dog days of summer" here in Arizona.  But ... rest assured, as soon as fair weather returns I, too, will join my pups for a long over-due walk (hopefully at the beach).

Molly, Amen. Time to play is critical and helps clear my mind so I can focus when I get back to work. I like the work for 45 minutes and take a 15 minute break to play like Terry recommended.

I try to 3 or 4 x week take a five mile walk with the dogs, but every day I have horse chores regardless of the market or anything else.  It is restful for me.

Awesome pic!!  Yes, there is always something we could do with our days when the market is down.  There are tons of new things to learn.  Spend more time on AR: read and blog...
