When is the last time you cleaned up your Database? Or made a backup? Or implemented a protocol so that data going in is consistant and searchable? Do you keep your backups offline?...or on disk?....locked up in a firesafe?...off site? Do you do backups at all????? What happens if your one and only hard drive fails? How about the other computers in your office? Your assistant's for instance...you know...the person who makes you look really...really good?

Now...NO MORE PROCRASTINATION! You have a long weekend here where you can schedule some time to take a look at these CRITICAL issues so just do it:) You have the time to make that backup, so GET IT DONE and make a plan to do this on a regular scheduled basis. But start today.

I am not the world's most technological agent out there. I know enough to to know when something is above my pay grade.

In the 15 years in this business, I've experienced 3 hard drive meltdowns....out of probably a dozen computers....Gateway and Dell. The first time was early on and not too much was lost though at the time is was pretty darn bad. Today it would be total devastation and it would cost me thousands of dollars in lost business revenue.

You don't have to know how to do all this stuff...you just need to know where to find the right folks to do it and then....let them do their job. This is part of doing business and part of life as we know it.

Lucky for you, you are in a community where you can ask advice about how to do these things and get some really good information that will save you the expensive education from the University of Hard Knocks.

Happy Memorial Day....from your friend....the Nudge:)

G.I.G.O. Sounds like an accounting principal!  But you are so right, you not only need a database, but you need to maintain it as well!  If you dont maintain it on a regular basis the task becomes a daunting one...

Janet, I learned the hard way. I now back up everything every two days. My database is also backed up on my Smart Phone. Thanks for the reminder.
