When you are trying to buy or sell a home in Saratoga Springs, is a swimming pool a bonus or a burden?  There has been a lot of talk about home sales being under water.  However, arguably none feels more like that than an owner with a swimming pool.

The recession has caused many homes across the United States to be underwater.  That is the mortgage is more than what the home is worth.  Adding a swimming pool, have led to homeowners being concerned with the economic costs of maintenance.  It's a reality, adding a pool has many costs associated with it.  It is important to take this into consideration when looking at homes for sale in Saratoga Springs.

When searching for homes for sale with a pool or adding a pool, many people tend to imagine a future of weekend swim parties, envious neighbors, and relaxing at home late at night swims. However it is important to keep in mind the costs of weekly chemical treatments, higher utility bills, and endless skimming when searching for homes for sale in Saratoga Springs.

Experts recommend that when you are thinking of adding a pool or buying a pool take a hard look at costs and the upkeep involved.  In addition when looking at homes for sale with an aging pool, is likely to have costly repairs and a lower resale value.  It is important to know the condition and age of the pool before buying a home.

Great post Melissa.  Anyone considering adding a pool to their home should only do it if they really want a pool, plan on staying in that home for some time to come, and aren't under the mistaken impression that it will add value to their property.

I agree with Gary. You never get the true value in return dollar for dollar. It is a "nice to have" feature if you are selling your home.
