Alligators are in the pond between Laurel Lakes and the Loadholt property. This morning while Boyd was doing his early morning walk, one was sunning on the Loadholt property side of the lake just behind the barn on the edge of the pond. So, those of you who go swimming in that pond had better think twice about doing that -- I hear folks saying "Nah, there are no alligators there" -- Well, Boyd saw one with his own eyes this morning. The one he saw was about 3 feet long -- so there are probably others in there. Eliza, our granddaughter, made a sign and we helped her post it on a tree to warn folks about the alligators.
Liz: I am so glad I don't have to worry about alligators. If I did, I wouldn't be anywhere near the water.
Hi Liz, Awww great sign~ does your granddaughter help with your for sale signs ;-) I just left Valdosta Georgia and I was fortunate enough to see one of these alligators (approximately 3 feet) in one of my friends ponds. I too like Chris would not go anywhere near that water.
Send Jim Hart out there to get rid of that alligator Liz!
Private note to Maria: Make sure Jim's insurance policy is up to date!!!!
Recently boating on Lake Placid and saw some in the water...held on to the dog!
I'm in Central GA and I thought all those guys were south of me and now Liz and Carol are saying they are north of me too. I swim in my lake.... I sure hope I don't run up on one.
Liz - This was from a hunt off the Edisto. Almost 12' and over 500lbs. He ate good
This was the only hunt I ever went on that the prey had a fair chance of eating me.
I will be going again next October
Well, if I ever make it down your way during the summer months, I promise I won't ask if I can go swimming!
After all, it is South Carolina, and all water is suspect to these little critters. The pond I live near, a 15 footer was taken just a couple of years ago!
My mother lives in a rocks throw away from Lake Moultrie in Cross, SC. The alligators in that water are huge. When I go home to visit, I make all effort to arrive before dark. There have been times when were were greets after Sunday services with an Alligator sunning in the front yard.
