Houston, Texas is setting up for it's Annual Fourth of July Freedom Celebration in Eleanor Tinsley Park on the grounds of the Buffalo Bayou. Admission is Free with a contribution of a canned good to benefit the Houston Food Bank. Since we've had torrential rains here in Houston for the last 2 days, hopefully the grounds won't be too wet! Nevertheless, huge crowds are expected for this annual celebration of fun, food, music and fireworks!
Beginning at 4pm on July 4, 2010, different bands will be playing and will feature Pat Green, a country music artist that has recorded 10 studio albums. His most popular song, "Wave on Wave" was on Billboard Hot Country Songs. He is known as the "Most Played Texas Artist" of the last 10 years!
There will be plenty of activities for young and old alike. The children will enjoy face painting, clowns, sing a long with Juno Baby, and learn about fire safety from the Houston Fire Department. Story telling and local dance groups will also entertain audiences. There will be military artifacts on display along with military vehicles representing all five branches of the military.
Festivities will end with the Nation's largest land based fireworks spectacular sponsored by Shell Oil Company.
Other Fourth of July celebrations will be held at the Sam Houston Race Park off the Beltway 8 between SH 249 & Hwy 290. Horse races being at 5pm followed by the Fireworks beginning at 9pm. Admission is $6 per adult, kids under 12 are free.
The Woodlands, Texas located North of Houston will hold its 13th Annual Red, Hot and Blue Festival in The Woodlands Town Center in Town Green Park and Waterway Square. Music, entertainers, and other activities, such as watermelon eating contest, hot dog eating contest and lots more! The whole family will enjoy a fun filled day!
