Summary: The number of pending sales is way down compared to last week, and is closer to the numbers we were seeing at the end of May and beginning of June. New listings, on the other hand, remained relatively high. Also, the average list and sale prices of homes sold have rebounded this week after being consistently low for several weeks prior. The lower prices could have been one effect of the first-time homebuyers tax credit. If we continue to see higher sale prices for the remainder of the summer, that could be a very good sign for our local real estate market.
