Lead generator sites. A good value?

By
Real Estate Agent with Zest Realty
Does anyone out there have any good experiences with lead generator websites like home gain or housevalues? All I have ever heard was garbage leads they provide and promise you the world. I can't imagine giving one cent to these sites with all the different avenues of web marketing nowadays I don't see how anyone can still support these sites. Although I am sure that consumers are going to these sites less and less .Please if someone has a good experience with these sites I'd love to hear them. Also if you are marketer of these companies please stop calling me :)

I have not heard anything positive about these companies either.  I am looking forward to some of the replies myself.

I have used Homegain in the past. The Agent Evaluator. I did get one sale from it, but the best thing I got was practice at my sales pitch.

The only reason I tried them was because they only charge a small monthly fee to participate and they don't charge a referral fee unless a sale closes. I was very curious and I could afford to test my curiosity.

Still, you have to be careful because if you "propose" to anyone, Homegain is entitled to a referral fee. And you don't know the names of who you are proposing to, so it could get tricky.

I started noticing FSBOs in my area that I had proposed to on Homegain (I put 2 and 2 together to know this) and figured there was no reason to pay homegain when I could find them myself. That is when I quit the service.

After all is said and done, I think money is better spent on finding ways to promote your website and become found on the web.

I worked with an agent who used housevalues.  She got a couple of deals, but most were no good.  A lot of times people give out fake info or when you call them, they are just browsing.  I think there are many other ways you could spend your time and money.

Hey Dan, Im right down the road from you in Apollo Beach. I have based my business on internet lead generation. I have made some mistakes and I have made some prosperous moves as well. The one move I am glad I did was to never give homegain or housevalues a dollar... well kind of. Buying their leads is a complete waste of money. Too expensive for the return you see. There are alot of good ways to spend your money to generate leads from internet traffic and also alot of bad. If you are ever thinking about a specific idea let me know and I will tell you what I know about them. good luck

I worked with homepain about seven years ago. I'm not willing to pay 3rd party aggregators for OUR info.

I got ripped off by getmyhomesvalue and homegain and learned my lesson.  I will never give these types of companies my money.
