Is it time for you to Adopt a Friend? Whether you are in Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda, Placentia, Orange, Fullerton, Brea, Tustin or Downtown Anaheim, I'll bet either you or someone you care about has room in their heart and their home for a new friend!
Today I adopted this little angel from Oklahoma who is going to help me through the coming months by loving me as much as I love her - probably more; that's my experience with Miniature Schnauzers!
Lyn Sims, Schaumburg Homes - RE/MAX Suburban of the NW suburbs of Chicago and Schaumburg first introduced me to this wonderful website and the timing was nearly perfect for me. I say nearly because I rushed it a little bit, but when I saw this little beauty, I could not resist! I filled out a detailed application (I wrote a sincere e-mail) and got a response in the middle of the night via e-mail. The next morning, Toni of WOOF Pet Rescue in Woodward, Oklahoma called me and interviewed me. Then she interviewed my vet to make sure I am a responsible pet owner. Finally, she looked up my home on the Internet to see where the dog was going to live. Then she told me I was approved! Can you imagine how excited I was!
I called the vet and paid Ella's bill. It was only $80. Get this; a volunteer is driving her to me!!!! They don't believe in "shipping" pets, so they are bringing her to me all the way from Oklahoma because of my sincerely-written e-mail! That's about a 30 hour drive. Someone who is coming to California on vacation is going to bring her with them! I am as excited as a kid at Christmas! Maybe more.
I pledged to Toni that Bella and I will be supporting her efforts at WOOF for many years to come!
It won't be long before Belle is at the office and becomes our official mascot. Be sure to check in with the staff and see how she is doing. I anticipate pictures and videos to come!
I can't do the cool blog like Lyn did yet, because I haven't figured out how she did it, but if you click on any of Belle's pictures, you will be taken to PetFinder.com where they have facilitated over 13,000,000 adoptions since 1995!
Now THAT is a post you need to share with your clients on your Localism page!
Did you notice her name change throughout this article? Let me explain.
I'm an old police K-9 trainer and we adamantly believed our dogs should have single-syllable names. It helps with obedience, especially on a long recall (like when Belle is halfway down the block because I accidentally left the front door open.) I'm not doing it because I don't like her given name, I'm doing it because it will be better for her in her obedience.
Besides, does she look like an Ella or a Belle to you? I'll call her Bella from the very first day I meet her and gradually change it to Belle so she won't even realize the change...too much. She's smart enough to know that silly old Papa is going to call her something different and she will go along with it because she loves me!
