10 FOR TEXAS ~ NEW TITLE SPONSOR! There is some exciting news from The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department! Memorial Hermann Hospital will be the event title sponsor through 2012. Memorial Hermann recently received the honor of "America's 50 Best" hospitals in 2010.
This is one of my favorite races in our community as an avid runner, I enjoy participating in this event. Here I am in the middle with two of my favorite running buds in the picture below. We had just finished the race and were in celebration mode! The race begins and ends in Market Street, the race is well attended and the course is flat, scenic and fun.
The mid October race this year will be the 5th Anniversary of the event. The 10 mile race goes down Woodlands Parkway to Falcon Wing and back down Lake Woodlands Drive. Now that Woodlands Parkway has been widened, the logistics of the race will be so much better.
Event planners this year are estimating approximately 2,000 runners. That is so exciting to see that number of people involved in fitness and healthy living. Because I have lived here for over two decades, the race is a social event as you get to see many friends along the way.
Last year the weather for the race was perfect! A little chilly about in the 60's with overcast skies. No wind or rain and not too much humidity. October is typically a great month for outdoor events like this in our area.
I am looking forward to this years race but not sure if I will be able to run the entire thing. My goal is to just finish it even if I can only run a little and do more walking. Tough for the ego but after this surgery, my goal is to FINISH! I hope that I will see many of you out there too!
