This weekend the Victoria Symphony Orchestra (now in its 70th year) performs its annual event on a floating stage in Victoria's Inner Harbour.

The 2010/2011 year marks Maestra Tania Miller's eighth season as Music Director of the Victoria Symphony, an appointment that made her the first Canadian woman to be appointed to such a significant position in Canada.

The "Splash" is now one of the largest annual symphony events in North America, where up to 40,000 spectators watch and listen to the music. Starting at 4 p.m and continuing to 10 p.m., when Canons are fired and fireworks light up the sky, the highlight is Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, which concludes the whole performance.

And ... it's all FREE!
