Be sure to mark your calendars and attend the Kansas City Open House for this Weatherby Lake landmark. This former one room school, built in 1857, stands proudly on Lot #1 of Weatherby Lake - a monument to the importance the prairie pioneer placed on educating their young. Over the years, a majestic home has been built around this former one-room schoolhouse and now boasts of 3700 sq. ft. spacious living space.

Visit the schoolhouse on Sunday for the open house and as you drive through each of the different sections of Weatherby Lake, you will get a true sense of "small town America." Frequent community events including weekend sailboat races, Music in the Park, Progressive Dinners, and Holiday Parades give everyone young and old a chance to meet their neighbors. This community has always been popular with families who are looking for an affordable private lake community not only for the reasons listed above, but the drive to downtown Kansas City is within 25 minutes or less for those who commute downtown for work.

Lindsay, thank you for your comment.  I too, love these old properties - the history and character cannot be replicated.
