Yesterday I had a broker's open house at 6678 Tudor Circle in North Royalton Ohio. On Sunday, I stopped by Hop Hing to put in an order for Tuesday morning, to be picked up at 10:30.
I arrived at the restaurant at 10:23 and there was no one there.
The doors were locked.
The lights were off.
There was no sign of life.
At 10:28 a car raced into the parking lot. Elaine, the owner was driving. Out jumped 3 guys ready to open the restaurant. He looked at me and said "We don't open until 10:30.". I said, "But I had an order that was supposed to be ready at 10:30!". I know even without looking in a mirror that I had that stern look on my face that my husband and daughter have to come to know so well. You know, that look that says "I am not pleased." In my defense, I also had a horrible migraine.
Elaine rolled down her window and said, "You said 10:30 but that 10:40 or 10:45 would also be o.k. When she said that I knew she was right. I did say that. My listing is only about 2 minutes from Hop Hing so I'm sure I thought I would have enough time.
I immediately apologized and told Elaine that she was right and that I had said that. I told her I would just wait until it was ready.
And then she offered to deliver it (no charge)!! I told her it was my mistake and that it was not necessary. She insisted so I said o.k. and thanked her. The fact that she delivered the food was in deed a blessing because I had agents arriving shortly after 11:00.
Here is the best part. When she delivered the food, she gave me one dozen crab rangoons for the "mix up"! I made the mistake and she gave me something extra!!
I had about 30 agents come to the open house and I made a point of telling each one of them of the great service I received from Elaine at Hop Hing. And here I am telling the story again. When I got home I told my husband and daughter and I'm sure I will tell a few more people.
