I just read an interesting email from Perry Marshall. In it he explained the origins of the book "Uncle Tom's Cabin" - which went on to be the most influential novel of the 19th century. President Lincoln credited Harriet Beecher Stowe's book for causing the war between the states and putting an end to slavery.
And how did it start?
With 40 installments in an anti-slavery magazine called "National Era." These installments began in June of 1851. As they circulated, they created an awareness that gathered steam with each new installment. They were, in effect, the first "drip marketing" campaign.
The stories got so much attention that in 1852 the installments were bound into a book - and sold 300,000 copies the first year. It all led to the protests and conflict that culminated in the Civil War.
Now, I don't expect that you want to start a war. You just want to get enough positive attention about your services to keep buyers and sellers coming to you with regularity.
One letter won't do it - and two probably won't do it either. But if you keep "dripping" your messages out, reminding people about the benefits you offer them, it will.
The trick is to make your "drips" so informative that people want to read them.
Those letters that say "Hey! I'm still here, when are you going to give me some business?" just won't cut it. You have to show those folks what you're going to do for them instead.
So start dripping. Sit down and write your own series of letters, or use my pre-written letters. But get started!
One more thing... I've got a free report on drip marketing at Copy by Marte... you're welcome to a copy!
