RUSH TOUR: MINNESOTA STATE FAIR

The following is a blog that has absolutely nothing to do with real estate but since Active Rain gets the word out so well and I want as many people as possible to see this, here it is:

Even if I wasn't a RUSH fan I would say that musically it was an excellent performance spanning many decades of classic music. Of course the night included a blending of Canadian and Minnesota State Fair hospitality and a special event in the celebration of guitarist, Alex Lifeson's 57th birthday.

From a fan perspective it was just about a perfect night. The set list included obscure songs only true fans would know and love - a tactic acknowledged by the audience, who rewarded the trio with ample praise at every opportunity. After all RUSH are rock and roll royalty despite a lack of wide spread popularity.

But what they lack in fan quantity they more than make up for in fan loyalty. I've personally made it to six of their shows and there are many who have been to far more than that. The people who turn out for their shows are as excited about them now as they were 20 or 30 years ago - and there's a whole new generation of RUSH fans growing up both in and out of Minnesota.

"Why?" you might ask if you don't have a complete collection of RUSH Records, 8-tracks, tapes, CDs, and DVDs? The simple answer lies with every individual fan. Lyrics, music, talent, personality, longevity, musical proliferation, and the list goes on.

Apparently being a RUSH fan is a personal thing. Oddly enough though, after six RUSH concerts in multiple states including Pennsylvania and Minnesota, I find one constant; the quality of the people and general optimism they have in human kind. Never before have I found a group of diverse people held together by only one common, musical thread to be so single minded in their kindness, civility, and general hopefulness for the future of their fellow people.

If you haven't ever listened to RUSH I don't expect you to start now, but if you ever did, maybe you should dust off those old records, 8-tracks, tapes, CDs, or DVDs and rediscover a great source of entertainment. And if you get the chance to see them on this tour, from the German inspired, bratwurst opener to the "I Love You Man" ending, you won't be disappointed.

They've been making music since 1974 and have 18 albums not including the live releases. If you liked 70's or 80's rock, give them a listen! Some can't handle/don't like Geddy Lee's voice, though.
