The chargers! Marysville Getchell High School 
The new Getchell High School in Marysville is set to open on time. It was originally scheduled to open next year. The school was funded from a bond passed in 2006. The $95.6 campus opens September 7, 2010 and will be home to The Chargers. Marysville Getchell High School will open with about 1400 students although it is designed to accommodate 1600 students.
Marysville Pilchuck High school was home to more than 2,500 students last year and was ranked the second largest high school in the State. The opening of Getchell High School will be a welcome relief for the over crowded Pilchuck High School.
Marysville Getchell High School is approximately 193,000 sq ft and features a common building that will house Administrative offices, the Physical Education Department and a Cafeteria. Additionally there are 4 learning Communities:
1. The Academy of Construction and Engineering with Principal Shawn Stevenson
2. Bio-Med Academy with Principal Judith Murdock
3. International School of Communications with Principal Angela Hansen
4. School for the Entrepreneur with Principal Dave Rose
The new school is built Green and is state of the art! Each of the small learning communities will have it's own library and students will have access to all libraries as well as Marysville Pilchucks library.
Students desks have an ergonomic design and storage areas underneath. Hooks are provided on the sides of the desks. Hallways are open air and the travel from one area of Campus to the next is much more efficient than what students experienced at Pilchuck.
The Campus has a track, football field or competition field and tennis courts but the school doesn't plan any athletics until next fall.
