Brunching While Rotating Above Columbia SC
USC Campus, Columbia SC Whenever someone asks "What would you like to do for your birthday?", I usually cannot come up with anything unique because I've already had quite a few. But this year I told the family I would like to eat Sunday brunch at the Top of Carolina restaurant. What a great idea.
The Top of Carolina is a rotating restaurant that is located 18 floors high with huge windows that allow you to see a 360 degree view of the University of South Carolina campus and downtown Columbia.
The dining portion of the building rotates about once an hour and the view really gives you a perspective of how the campus and Columbia flow. The buffet stations with all the great food are a part of the fixed building and you pass by them all on your journey. These stations, some that are manned, have different food themes, like the waffle station that has a large assortment of fresh fruit toppings. There is also an omelet station, a salad station and a carving table with several choices of roasted meat.
Driving around town you mainly see a lot of asphalt and concrete and brick but the view from almost 200 feet high shows how green Columbia really is.
*Please note: This is an all you can eat buffet. Every time you leave your table it will be in a different location than when you left. If you can't find your seat, wait an hour and it will come back around.
The Top of Carolina sits on top of the Capstone House at 902 Barnwell Street. The Sunday Brunch is served from 10:30AM until 1:30PM and costs $21 for adults and only $10 for kids under 13. The Top of Carolina also serves a Friday Barbecue lunch from 11:30 to 2 for $10.75.
Parking is available across the street at the Darla Moore School of Business parking lot.
