Happy

After hitting the magical button that says "post blog entry"...  I started getting responses to a great post the other day.  Comment after comment after comment...  It was magical!  I thought for sure that I would see that wonderful word "featured" after it when I checked the points page on ActiveRain.

http://bit.ly/dlIEuV  Here is the post...

ActiveRain

I was away from the office, so I was checking the comments on my iPhone, so I was not able to access the points page...  Comment after comment after comment...   Email notification after notification...  I had surly posted a masterpiece the minds of the AR family...  When you get so many comments, so soon...  It is a great feeling!

Upon getting to the office, I quickly checked the statistics on the blog...  I was up to about 50 comments so far, and started to respond to a few.  Responding is one of my favorite things to do, and when someone re-responds, it feels like we are in a two-way conversation.  Some joke with me about LONG conversations that occur between me, Phly and Liz & Bill that seem to be un-ending!

Comment after comment after comment...  I had to run into an appointment, at this point I was sure it would be a featured article, or at least WAS a featured article.  I mean, it is not often that a post gets that much activity, and NOT be featured in such a short period of time.

When I finally checked later that day, it was not a feature, but had massive traction.  I was over 100 comments at this time...  But I still wondered why it hadn't been posted as a feature...

In reality, it was never a featured article...  Well, I wasn't discouraged, and a few posts later, I had another one featured.

http://bit.ly/aXbhPd  This one was featured...  But as you can see, less people had read this one, but it was more impactful in the monds of those that read it.

The reason why I was happy, was...  Well...  Um....  Actually, I guess I'm always happy!

So the moral is, don't be discouraged if your awesome post doesn't get featured!  Just keep writing, and you will have your day in the sun!

Question:  Have you had a blog featured that surprised you?  Or one that you wished would have been?

Chris:  Congrats on all the great activity. Every post you write is not going to become featured, why would you think it would be?  I take it by your post that you were pleasantly surprised.  It made the AR Newsletter also.

James - creating great content that makes people think, enjoy, dream, prevoke emotion, etc... It is is that helps create what makes a blog get a feature. So what is it about blogs that's makes you suggest? That could also be a reason. Have a great morning, and thanks for the comment!

Chris, I have 4 posts suggested by some AR friends and did not get featured.  :(  I didn't have the landslides comment like yours.  I don't know what get featured and what don't.  I like reading good posts and try to write some good ones myself.  Whatever will be, will be...... But I always like your posts, always get us thinking!

I like that you always happy~ very charismatic. I'm going to check your featured posts.

Do you know by now: how the post becomes featured. It is obviously not about number of comments of views, but probably an act of an ambassador? Or many suggestions? I can not figure it out. I've seen so many blogs that are worthy of the feature and tons of blogs that are value`less.
