According to REALTOR Magazine Experian has released the cities with the highest and the lowest average credit scores.  Experian finds that mortgage payments are a huge factor in compiling the scores.

US Cities with The Highest and Lowest Average Credit Scores
Cities with the highest average credit scores:

· Minneapolis, Minnesota 787
· Madison, Wisconsin 785
· Cedar Rapids, Iowa 781
· Green Bay, Wisconsin 780
· San Francisco, California 780
· Boston, Massachusetts 779
· Peoria, Illinois 778
· La Crosse, Wisconsin 778
· Seattle, Washington 777
· Sioux Falls, South Dakota 777

Cities with the lowest average credit scores:

· Harlingen, Texas 684
· Jackson, Mississippi 698
· Corpus, Christi, Texas 700
· Shreveport, Lousiana 701
· El Paso, Texas 706
· Monroe, Lousiana 706
· Las Vegas, Nevada 707
· Bakersfield, California 708
· Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 709
· Tyler, Texas 709

It not surprising to see Texas on the lowest average credit score list 3 times.  Nor is it a surprise to see Nevada and California.  However, where is Florida on that list?  Florida is a hard hit state that has seen large numbers of short sales and foreclosures.

Sandy,

This is very interesting because the credit scores seem very high, anything above a 620 can get a mortgage, these scores are considered good, especially anything in the 700's. Just not sure where they received there data. I actually think the scores would be lower from everything else I read. Thanks a always for the info.

Sandy, are a lot of your foreclosures by chance from out of state investors?

How have the Scorpions done the past couple of Friday nights?

Sandy - I see several expected outcomes, but also some that seem missing.  For instance from the California perspective, I was surprised to see Bakersfield listed, while Fresno and Stockton remained absent from the list.  Both those areas being hit hard by foreclosures.

Shawn, Well Minnesota is right on top of that list, isn't it?  Has your area not been hard hit with foreclosures and short sales?

Yolanda, Good point - the scores seemed a bit on the high side to me, also.   It seemed to me that some places were missing from the lowest credit scores list  - but they only had 10 to pick from.

Hi Bruce, We do have a number of out of state investors, our foreclosures have come from locals, out of state buyers with second homes, international buyers, first time buyers and owner occupants. You know you bring up a good point - it would be interesting to see the numbers on where all these owners came from.

Thanks for asking - I know that football is in your blood.  Scorpions are doing great this season - best season they've had in years and years.  We've won 3 out of 4 games.  We lost one, where the team had come away from a huge victory with an arch rival 50-20 and I think they got a bit too confident. So it seems like they slept during the next game, against a somewhat weaker team. But they pulled it out, the next game, and officially our football team was put on the map - and now they are to be reckoned with.  Tonight's a big night - homecoming - so it will be a great time.

Myrl, It's interesting, isn't it to see who made the list.   I also felt that we had some areas that were missing.

John, Agreed - that seems to be the sentiment in looking at this chart. They do seem high.
