FREE Concerts! The US Air Force Band of Liberty to Perform in Augusta and Lewiston, Maine
The United States Air Force Band of Liberty will be providing FREE concerts in Maine starting October 5 in Augusta at the Augusta Civic Center and ending October 9 in Lewiston at Lewiston Middle School. In between they will perform additional concerts on October 6 in Bangor, October 7 in Ellsworth, and October 8 in Topsham.
The US Air Force Band of Liberty, located out of Hanscom AFB in Massachusetts, is one of 40 Air Force Bands located around the United States. There are a total of 45 talented, active duty personnel who perform full time providing 400 free concerts a year around New England and surrounding areas. Their mission is to “provide outstanding musical products and services for official military, recruiting, and community relations events, and by fostering America's rich national heritage.”
The US Air Force Band of Liberty had eight different ensembles: the largest is the Concert Band, but there is also the Liberty Jazz Band performing big band jazz, the rock band, Afterburner, the Ceremonial Band performing patriotic music for parades and military functions, the brass ensemble, Colonial Brass, the wind ensemble, New England Winds, the clarinet ensemble, Bay State Winds, and the newest ensemble, the trombone quartet, Mach Four.
These concerts in Augusta and Lewiston are being sponsored by the Kennebec Journal, the Morning Sentinel, the Augusta Civic Center, L/A Arts and Patrons Oxford Insurance Company. Tickets are available at the Kennebec Journal and the Morning Sentinel offices, the Augusta Civic Center box office, and the L/A Arts office. Both shows begin at 7:00 and are general admission seating.
