As we all should be aware, on November 2, 2010 there is a National, State and Local elections will be held across the US and this will be an important election for many reasons. I strongly feel that every citizen in this country has not only the right to vote but also the obligation. If you feel that the current leaders in this country are not doing their jobs then get out and vote for someone new. I also feel that if you choose not to vote then you should not complain about how things are going Nationally or in the State or Locally.

The only election item I will express my opinion on is the Katy Independent School District ( KISD) Bond Referendum. All of us who live in an neighborhood that attends KISD should vote YES for this bond issuance. We are blessed with excellent schools in the KISD area but for this excellence to continue we need new funds to cope with our unprecedented growth. There have been several blogs written which discuss the key points of this bond issuance and I will not in this blog cover those items again.

Vote at a location in your political subdivision that's convenient to where you live or work and, at the same time, skip long election lines. Early voting is right around the corner and will begin on Monday October 18  and will go through Friday  October 22, 2010 from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM. October 23 early voting will be held from 7 AM - to 7 PM and on October 24, 2010 voting will take place from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Beginning Monday October 25, 2010 thru Friday October 29, 2010 early voting will be opened from 7 AM - 7 PM.  So there are numerous days available for all of us who want to vote early to do just that. Really there are no good excuses not to vote!!!!

Each registered voter actually casts their ballot at a location based on the county they live in. If you live in Fort Bend County and close to Katy then you have two locations ( there are numerous others in Fort Bend but these two are the close in regards to distance) that are fairly close to the Katy Texas area to choose from to vote early.  Those two are:

* Cinco Ranch Branch Library - 2620 Commercial Center Blvd ( close to La Centerra) ; * Unversity of Houston at Cinco Ranch 4242 S. Mason.

As with Fort Bend County there are numerous polling places available to voters living in Harris County. The locations I found that are in close proximity to the Katy area are:

* Franz Road Storefront 19818 Franz RD 77449; * Bear Creek Community Center 3055 Bear Creek Drive at Patterson Road 77084 * George Bush Park Glen Cheek Education Building 16002 Westheimer Parkway.

If you have any other voting question's try www.votexas.org as it is organized by the State of Texas Secretary of State. As we get close to the election I will write another blog about voting on election day
