This morning, at the Lake Charles Civic Center people gathered to participate in the Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer 3K. This event is also a "pet friendly" walk/run run. I got a quick shot of this little cutie before the event started with my iPhone.
Last year over 3,000 local residents showed up and from the looks of it this year was just as well attended even on a football weekend when many residents have headed to Baton Rouge for the landmark LSU vs. MSU football game!!
The weather was perfect, 73 degrees at 8:30 am.... it could not have been a better morning for a walk/run along the lakefront! I must admit I did NOT jog the entire 3K, it was so beautiful that I took advantage to walk and take photos part of the way!
Take a look for yourself, it was a gorgeous Fall morning along Shell Beach Drive in Lake Charles, LA!
This Lake Charles event was founded in 2004 by Ethel Precht to benefit local residents who were undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
In 2008 Ethel Precht started the HOPE Breast Cancer Foundation devoted to helping breast cancer survivors. The Foundation awards a scholarship at McNeese State University to a student who is a breast cancer survivor or has a member of their immediate family who is a survivor of breast cancer.
GREAT CAUSE, GREAT DAY!
