Autumn In SLO County

It's that wonderful time of year again in San Luis Obispo County. The time of year when the days get a little shorter, the nights a little longer and the county gets a nice little nip in the air. I can always tell that Fall is falling by the quantity of leaves and tree nuts that pile up in front of the office and on our sidewalk at Tartaglia Realty and trust me that has happened this year!

I have been slowly noticing that change here in the county but just this morning it really hit me that it's full blown fall time. On my way to the office this morning a traffic accident rerouted my normal course through Cal Poly's Agricultural department and as I passed the Beef Evaluation Center I saw about 3 school busses loading up what looked like hundreds of kids. Each with their own little pumpkin which will undoubtedly get carved up this evening. It was at that moment that my mind put all the pieces together. Lastnight on the way home there was a large moon with kind of an eery appearance rising over the Easter portion of the Cuesta Grade and yesterday afternoon I noticed all of the people out at the Avila Barn buying up local pumpkins, apples, pies and cider. Fall has truly come and is in full force here on the Central Coast.

So if you are thinking that you would like to get out and enjoy some beautiful Central Coast weather, fall and maybe a few of natures simple thrills I have a bit of a Central Coast Adventure for you. Whether you live up in North County, South County or from out of the area this is a wonderfull little drive. Hop in your car and take a drive out to AVila Beach just to enjoy the beautiful colors and coastline along the way. But here's the adventurous part! When you get to either of the Highway 101 exits roll down your windows and breath in the air; you should smell fresh ripe apples. The smell is overwhelming right now and is mind blowing how strong the apples are. If you are so inclined the Avila Valley Barn has some great stuff going on right now and is always worth a stop. Also, a drive up See Canyon can yield a great bag of locally grown apples and fresh presed cider. If nothing else, roll down the windows in your local area and see if you can get that same experience!

Have a great day!
