I don't watch reality TV. I watch news, talk shows, Jeopardy!, Jay Leno, etc. Am I just old fashioned, or have we become a society lacking any sense of decorum? In the last week, I've heard a talk show host refer to a candidate as a "bitch," and then say it's a term she uses for her friends. Jay Leno, a host I love, uses "ass" constantly when referring to we Americans and our diets. I've heard words such as crap, bastards, hell, etc. And remember, these are not reality programs! What have we become? What can we expect of our young people, when this is the example we set? Let's not even get in on the discussion of network and cable programming... guns, murder, violence, sex ! Where are we headed?
I must be old-fashioned too because I'm horrified by it.
Everything's about being shocking, now. Pretty soon there will be nothing left to shock with, unless it's going back to the old-fashioned values.
We are headed in a very wrong direction that is for sure! I avoid shows like that for those exact reasons and I have to say over the past two years, I've almost eliminated watching TV all together because of the direction it is going.
I have also eliminatead watching TV since I started blogging in 2008. I may watch the news and perhaps a movie every now and then..
Howdy and morning to you Margo
Margo, I also sure must be old fashioned along with you and the others that commented here. I don't watch TV much anymore for the kind things that it seems to be okay now a days to say on there. There are even a few bloggers here in the community that I won't visit, because they seem to think its okay to use bad language, in their blog posts and in their comments.
Have a good one
