Recently the real estate company I work with, Seven Gables Real Estate in Tustin, CA, started a weekend update of activities and things to do around Orange County that agents and clients may be interested in participating in. This week the email came out and reminded me of the First Saturday event in the Artists Walk area of downtown Santa Ana.
Those of you who haven't been to Santa Ana in a while are in for quite a surprise. Downtown on the first Saturday has galleries open and eclectic restaurants popping with activity. The old buildings that have so much architectual history are filled with shops and galleries. This weekend was especially interesting because the local community celebrated the "Day of the Dead". Typically celebrated the day after Halloween, this first Saturday had the streets blocked off with alter after alter of celebrating those that had passed before. It was fantastic to see all of the creativity in preparing these alters, the music, the food and then on to the artists walk! It was an evening I hadn't expected and made me appreciate the diverse area we live in Southern California. The Santa Ana Art Community opens the doors every first Saturday. I suggest checking it out and discovering what's going on in Orange County.
