Those of you that saw the movie, “Summer of 42,” you may be thinking the title of this post is going to places----other than where it is going----and that is a nice thought too! Dp,ryo,rd s ,odd od sd yppf sd s ,o;r/ zog upi fp mpy yjoml yjsy odd p upi str mpy [suomh syyrmyopm/ The other day I was typing along as usual, and not paying much attention to the monitor----because I was typing from notes away from the screen. When I did look at the screen, I realized that my hands had been off to the right (or was it to the left?) on the keyboard. My hands were just one key off, resulting in one heck of a bunch of garbage----as undecipherable to my brain as a QR Code. I am aware of the little warts on the "F" and "J" keys, but after abusing my hands as a farm kid, builder and sport climber for most of my life----I just cannot feel the dang things. This all got me thinking about how close we can be to something----even going through all the correct motions-----with the end result being completely incomprehensible, ineffective----and just plain wrong. We might even be oblivious to our mistake because we never step back and take a look. With something as obvious as having our hands in the wrong position on the keyboard, we would likely notice the mistake ourselves----or get smacked awake by whoever else was trying to read what we have written. Other things in our lives are less obvious, but nonetheless off by just a key stroke or two. Do you know where your hands are? Anybody want to take a stab at the mistyped sentences above?
