Known as “The Original Pizza Place in Pinnacle Peak” it was first opened when the shopping center was built by the developers of the Pinnacle Peak area.
Lon Cruse, the current owner, has been in charge for the last 7 ½ years. Lon is always there to serve you as this is a family-run business and he wants to make sure you have a great experience. Pizza Peak provides free delivery to your home or office and it is open 7 days a week. The menu includes hearty appetizers, pastas, salads and subs in addition to great pizza. Lon shared with me that he uses only the finest cheeses, which make a big difference in the taste of his delicious pizzas.
If you haven’t visited this wonderful Mission style shopping center at 8711 E Pinnacle Peak Road as yet, take the time to stop in and walk around. There is a traditional courtyard with fountains, cobblestones, old wooden carts and other touches from Old Scottsdale. Pizza Peak itself is smaller with a few booths inside, but right outside is the expansive courtyard with tables and chairs so you can enjoy your pizza and other items al fresco.
We have made Friday night our “date night” with our young grandchildren. They love visiting with Lon who keeps a pizza-twirling Elmo on the shelf to keep the toddlers happy. We have our fresh out-of-the-oven pizza on the patio and after they’ve finished eating there is a lot of running room for them to play without disturbing other diners.
Going to Pizza Peak is a visit into the early history of the Scottsdale's expansion to the north. The shopping arcade also features art stores, interior design firms, and the well-known “Country Store” which has a gas station, restaurant and is home to one of the best post offices in town.
