Yard sign Phone numbers being used.

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Trombley Real Estate

I was curious about the different views and policies out there in regards to the sign you put up in the sellers yard. Of course you will have your Firms name on it and the Logo.

But what about items like your name, mobile number and the firms office number.

OK to rate this since I have not figured out the vote button yet. Yes, yet I am working on that button and one day my blog will be using that button.

Which is preferred:

1.     Agent name and Agent mobile number.

2.     Firms office number, Agent name and Agent mobile number.

3.     Firms office number, and Agents rider.    In otherwards the frim owns the sign and agent added rider.

Of course I no longer work for Ammons Pittman but it is showing the sign with the office advertisement at one point in time in my life.

First look at the DRE requirements.  You must have your name and brokerage information.  It is my signs and I am advertising myself so MY number and MY name is the biggest thing on the sign.  I never put the brokerage phone number or address.  I want the contact.

I'm not a Realtor, but I thought virtually all signs had phone numbers, of at least the office, and many of cells.  You want other agents & buyers to call you!!!  I would think cell is best these days, IF you answer it.

Susan,

It is not a matter of what is on their sign..but many neighborhoods around here do not even let you put any signs up at all so that solves that problem:)

Adam - I agree I want that call not the office, but does you office have a policy that you have too. Most agent may not be aware that some, and only some offices have that policy.

Ronald - Yes, I do want my cell phone to ring and that is the number I use on my signs since it is hooked to my hip.

Neal - I am amazed you do not think it matters just as long as the neighborhood sees your name.

I have to buy my own signs and always have my number and name imprinted into the sign. I will also use a rider many times in addition. I use my office numer which is private to get the calls. I will always have a flyer box next to the sign.

Eric - I can see if you are the Broker/Owner to have the office and cell number on your sign.

We use our regular office signs with the brokerage's name and numbers on it, and a rider at the top of the sign that, in my case, has my name and cell phone.  If they call the office and ask for me, they'll be forwarded to me on my cell.

Basically, I want the home sold, so the more ways to get in touch with me, the better!

We're starting to use a service that will also allow them to text a request for basic info and receive it via text, as well.  I'm interested in seeing how that works out.  They'll be receiving my contact info (name and cell) when they do, so they'll have it right there on their cell phone.

Tricia -

You are so right we really want that listing sold and if we are not available then we want someone to show them the home and get the offer accepted.

My preference would be for the agent name and number on sign.  My office does not have direct numbers so when the call comes in they give it to the floor time person and this is not working for me.

We have a state requirement that the brokerage have their info on the sign, and not smaller than the agent info. I use a rider with my mobile number.

Frank - It sounds like you have your act together. Good Job for your agents and you of course.

Jennifer - I totally understand. I have worked for those offices before, The good news is there are those that do not do that it you.

Lane- That is what I was trying to say with out saying it out loud. I thought there was states that did that. I would like to see everyone be able to have only their numbers on the sign. But I understand that the firm's might believe that it is their listing.

In Texas, the listing agreement is legally with the broker, not the agent.  So, here, they don't just believe it, it IS their listing.

Tricia - Well that does make a difference then. In NC the listing belongs to the Firm and that is how the contract is written up. Thanks for the insite of what TX has to offer.

I think I must have confused you.  The broker and "the firm" are one and the same here - the broker owns the firm.  The agent signs the contract as a representative of the broker, but the listing isn't with them, it's with the broker (the firm).

Tricia - OK I believe I got it now. You are the same as us in writing up the listing agreement that the listing belongs to the Firm/Broker and that you must display the Firm/Broker information then you can also display your information.

With the Firm/Broker, I am with in NC, I have options depending on the Firm/Broker's policy. I Must have the Firm/Broker name on the sign, but I do not have to have the Firm/Brokers phone number on the sign. So there for I only have the Firm/Broker's name on the sign with my name and my cell phone number only.

Hey Susan,

You know I live in Cary-Here the signs have to be smaller than in Raleigh. Our FM signs are 5ft in Cary and 7ft in Raleigh(I think).  We just got new signs because of the Long and Foster merge.  I add a header w/my name and number and another one w/my website.
