Have you ever wondered how the details on Stucco homes are created? You might be a little amazed. I had no idea until recently when I was actually watching carefully on how some of the homes around me were being built.

Here is a picture of what the final detail looks like so you know what I'm referencing.

You can clearly see the fancy details around the windows and framing area, as well as a couple of feet off the ground.  Looks like it would be complicated to get it all semetrical, right?

Here's a picture showing what it really is.

Can you tell? It's styroafoam!  Yes, all the details are made of pieces of styrofoam attached to the house and then secured down with a metal mesh on top so the stucco will stick to it.

I wonder what genius came up with this idea!!

The newest way of using stucco is so much better than it was in the 70's and 80's.

Stucco  adds a ton aesthetic value and actual value to homes today. However its important that the type of material used is EIF certified because in the past few years, problems with leakage and molding stemming from shotty stucco installs has been a big problem.
