365 Things To Do In Southern NM: Day 24 - La Casa Bazaar

For me, it's just not the Christmas season until I've gone to the La Casa Holiday Bazaar - and I get to do that this Friday!  Friday is the preview - or "First Night" and it's wonderful to be one of the first folks to be able to walk through and see what's being offered.

This is a landmark year for the Bazaar - the event will be the first official event for the brand new Convention Center in Las Cruces!  It's been a hard fought battle for many years to get this funded and built.  Now that it's up and running, we are very excited!

The Bazaar raises funds for our local womens and childrens shelter.  I've volunteered there many times and any funds that head their way is a huge blessing.  They do such wonderful work there and it is always a pleasure to spend time helping out where I can.

The schedule events for the weekend:

Friday:  Special preview from 5-8pm.  You will need a ticket for this which can get from any Guild member, at 800 S. Walnut or purchased at the door for $15.  There will be live entertainment and munchies

Saturday:  The bazaar runs 9 to 5pm.  Tickets are $5

Sunday:  The bazaar runs from 10 to 4pm and, if your guy doesn't want to miss the game, there will be a special "Man Cave" set up.

To Get There:

The Convention Center is located on University and El Paseo.  The parking lot is on El Paseo.

Sometimes the only way I know that Christmas is around the corner is when my Mom starts getting ready to help put on the La Casa Bazaar...it wouldn't be Holiday Season in Las Cruces without it!

I'm soooo glad that the new convention center is opening with this event, and have been amazed over the years at how many thousands of people came even though the old barn that it used to be held in looked like it would fall down on their heads.

Thanks for writing about it - and for helping celebrate what good things are happening in Las Cruces!
