The Gorilla is speaking...
Today, the Commission on the "Deficit"-"Debt"-"Needed Cuts" has NOT reached the number 14 members;
...the Commission is therefore disbanded;
...the Commission has nothing to 'send-to' the congress as a whole;
...the Commission has, however, begun the parade;
Senator Alan Sessions has interjected humor into this 9 Mo + commission;
..as co-chair, he has provided a message with his legendary humor;
..as usual, today he did NOT disappoint once again.
Sitting at the commission table, Sen. Alan Sessions summed it [progress] up this way:
" We threw a big banana into the Gorilla cage;
the Gorilla picked it up;
peeled it;
mashed it;
played with it;
& ate a little of it:
That is where we are today"
He is presently on his way back home. We wish him well.
Shortly afterwards, Lindsey Graham was asked to comment on this situation [no vote forward in Commission], to which he stated:
.." I don't know if the Gorilla[s] would like to be compared to members of Congress"
Fun way to end this non-action with a dose of humor.
As of this moment in time, there is or was a vote to take up the matter of voting [?] on the the Dec.31st ending of the Bush era Tax Cuts
Presently, the President having gone to Afghanistan overnight, is speaking to the troops there & to the TV audience so the screens have moved away from the vote process.
Whether a vote on the tax matter is taken today or tomorrow--the fact of the matter is that in order for a smooth transition or continuation of the tax code-process--this VOTE must be taken by December 8th, 2010.
Interesting:
... Amazon Services is no longer providing [as previously] net availability to Wiki-Leaks
...Jobs report for November less than stellar with 39,000 -50,000 private sector jobs created & 9.8 % unemployment
Barb & Sal - At least these are interesting times! Congress is unwilling to touch the steps necessary for creating a true recovery and dealing with the debt crisis, for their must be some (lots of) additional pain.
John...things are moving [where, don't know]. Just across the wires--the Senate has Voted to hold a Vote
tomorrow, Saturday on a Vote on the extension of Bush era Tax Cuts. It appears that:
a..one vote on --extension for those under #250,000.--M. Backus
b..another by C.Schumer to extend for those up to $100,000. [spell check used-looks wrong still]
c..WH proposal to extend for all IF congress will extend the unemployment
Again, just being discussed ; both are expected to be defeated so then another debate / discussion will
take place. Jinkies! [best word that could be typed on line] will they ever get this done; Guess they can't work under time-lines.
Thanks for your comment. Have a great weekend.

Congress doesn't work well under pressure or without it. There are still lots of faces who need to go home.
John...you are so right! If only! It is a tad silly to hear them now with all the talk of "must do", "hurry before",
"chicken-crap", "nonsense", "raise the limit..the GOP wants them[tax cuts] extended for everyone"; Then you have the political speakers for the WH since Pres. B.O. is off t0 Afghanistan leaving Joe & others to field this mess. One thing is certain-voting tomorrow on casting a vote for at least 1 bill & maybe introduce a 2nd so they can vote again on whether there should be a vote; all of which will take place after they vote to allow debate. Can you say stall.
Thanks for your comment. Hope Your weekend is good.

Perhaps we should bring he gorillas in for this lame duck session, we might get something accomplished, if only a banana smoothie.
Mike...How funny is that mental picture; but fear not--they are meeting in the Senate for ????
to this time 12:06 p.m.--Sen.Mitch McConnell is holding a press conference--sadly I missed what actually the vote result was; darn--darn--darn! Perhaps they did make a banana smoothie after-all; If you know what just took place in the Senate could you fill us in please. We are waiting for the President to speak on ????
thanks for your comment & have a great weekend.

To All...The President is now speaking of us disappointment in the two Senate Votes that shot down both the Backus & Schumer bills were "NO' votes. Backus= extension for those under $250,000. Schumer= #$00,000.
While the President spoke of his disappointment--his voice & posture stated the anger; Now the debate may begin to center on what is truly in the "best interest of the American economy". The previous week's scuttle-but
was that all will be extended [with the addition of other WH wanted program extensions] for at least 2 years.
Again, the mid-night hour is on the horizon.
Barb
