Are you Using Evernote? If Not You Should Be!

What a great blog!  I just downloaded Evernote and took a picture of something with my Palm Pre Plus that would have been a pain to find a pen, paper, and write it down (not to mention find that piece of paper later when I needed it).  After taking the picutre I checked my laptop and miraculously it was there!  Thanks Debra for passing along this great FREE program.

Back in August I read a great post from William Johnson about the program Evernote.  It seemed like a great program so I immediately tried to put on my Droid phone.  I tried to download several times and had trouble and eventually gave up.  As it turned out it was my phone that was the problem and not Evernote.  I have since gotten a new phone from Verizon.

So this week I came across Evernote again and decided to give another try since I was looking for apps for an Ipad.  It installed no problem on my phone, Ipad and laptop.  Now the theory behind Evernote is that anything you do on any of these devices (where Evernote is installed) will be accessible by any of them anywhere at anytime.  The best part it is FREE, yes FREE!

Now here is where my story comes in.  I have it installed on all 3 but haven't really had a chance to use it yet other than to make one note on it so far which was a phone number.  I was at a Dr. appointment looking at a magazine when I saw something I wanted to make a note of.  Of course in looking I didn't have a pen with me.  So I pulled out my phone and was typing in a note (ugh what a pain!)  when I thought of Evernote.  I opened Evernote and was about to type the note in there so it would be in my files when I saw that it said "snapshot."  I hit the button and it took a picture of the page I wanted to save and stored it into Evernote!  So instead of a hastily typed note of what I wanted from the magazine I had the whole page!  Now I know you are saying what is the big deal you can do that with your phone's camera.  BUT your phone's camera does not allow you to access that data from ANYWHERE.  When I got home I opened my laptop and there was the photo I had taken with my phone already in the memory of Evernote.  No having to transfer the pictures etc..

The point of all of this is-how many times in a day do you take a note from something you would really like to copy and so on? You can take pictures of things or data that will immediately be available to your assistants never mind all the other things Evernote does.  Check it out, it could really make your day more organized and time efficient!
