Halloween is right around the corner!

pumpkinCan you believe that Halloween is almost here?  The stores already have their costumes and candy out for the big day.  Since the weather has turned cooler here in Kentucky and Halloween is a little over a month away, I thought this would be a good time to post a few ideas that you can use to market yourself on and around Halloween.  There's plenty of time to plan and these ideas are sure to be a hit with children and their families!

  • Give away pumpkins to your farm area
  • Have a pumpkin carving contest (can also be an extension of your pumpkin give-away)
  • Host a costume contest & Halloween party
  • Buy mini paper bags (available at craft stores like Michaels) put candy in them, and tie your business card to the top of the bag. Hand the bags out on Halloween night.
  • Have a costume contest for neighborhood pets
  • Take Polaroid photos of Trick or Treaters - put the photo in an envelope or photo holder with your information on it.

Can you think of any other great Halloween ideas?

One super easy idea for those of you that are active in sending postcards to your farms is a Halloween Safety Checklist.  Unfortunately there are lots of crazy people out there and parents really appreciate these cards.  We design, print and mail these for our Real Estate clients every year and I know that the feedback they get from their farm areas is outstanding.

Anyways, more food for thought! I love your creative ideas.

Anthony - Thanks! Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I really like to take advantage of it when it comes around.

Chris - I love your idea of the halloween safety checklist card.  I signed up on your website to receive samples of your products, is the safety card included?

Naoma - I know! The year is almost over and the Holiday rush is upon us too - time to start shopping for Christmas too!

Kelly, fabulous idea's. I had a client Halloween Hay ride once and gave away pumpkins and their kids got to wear their costumes. It is a fun Holiday to take advantage of maketing.

A Halloween Hay ride is a great idea.  I use to love hay rides when I was a kid.  Haven't been on one in years, though I'd love to do it again! :)

I've never done a pet costume contest or seen one, but I bet it would be just too funny!  You could even take poaroid pictures of the pets for the owners too!

Sounds like some good ideas.  I'm just finishing up a community project so I'm not ready to do another one so quickly.

Hi Kelly

Glad to see you back here again, I have planned many things for my farm area and hope to be blogging about it real soon. A lot of fun activities are planned, I have to be careful to do it during the school hours because my girls birthdays fall on Halloween and want to be around for them.

Thanks Gary - I just needed to get back into the groove again! How cool to have birthdays on Halloween - it's my favorite holiday! I can't wait to hear about the activities you've got going on for Halloween in your farm area. I know they're gonna love it!

Great ideas Kelly. What about hosting an movie night outside in your farm area. Folks can come and sit outside on blankets and lawn chairs to watch an old scary movie or family movie like Disney's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Many communities have parks where you can put up a huge screen.

Courtney, I love this idea! A spin on this is you could hire a Storyteller to tell scary stories. :)

Yes, that's a great one too. Any group event is a great place to get your name out there.

Kelly,

I am having a Halloween Coloring. It is going out in my newsletter in my farms and to past clients. I have even posted it on AR.

Dan - Halloween is my favorite holiday by far!  I think having a pumpkin carving contest is going to be a lot of fun!  Take pictures and let us know how it goes.

Tina - I'm going to have a Halloween Coloring contest too (need to find a good picture first though).  I'm setting up a table at a local Halloween Festival in town, and along with my goodies, I'm going to hand out the coloring contest pictures.  They can take it home to color and then mail it in to me for a prize. :)
