As Realtors, and professionals associated with the business of buying, selling, investing in and financing real estate, we know the importance of relationships. Not only relationships with our clients, but relationships with other professionals in our markets....and even though they are important, I don't mean other realtors.
In my market of SW Montana, it is not only important to know banking professionals, independant mortgage lenders, appraisers, inspectors, general contractors, architects and government officials. It is also important to know fishing guides who can get onto tightly held private spring creeks to cast for trophy trout, skiing instructors that can cater to all ages and abilities, outfitters who can present opportunities to pursue any number of game animals, hiking enthusiasts that have traveled every trail, who to call for private tours of Yellowstone National Park, permitted outfitters that can lead horseback trips into National Forest and Wilderness Areas and who to talk to about mountain biking, ice climbing, scuba diving, bait fishing, spelunking, zip-lining, dining at Spanish Peaks or the Yellowstone Club and where exactly is Ted Turner's Ranch.....you name it.
Buying a ranch and need someone to manage it....I know a guy. Just bought a house in the country and need someone to clear snow....I know a guy. Need someone to groom a ski trail from your slope-side home to the lift....I know a guy. Hosting a dinner party that you would like to have catered.....I know a guy. A woman wants to learn to fly fish from another woman....I know a lady. Want to fly fish for taimen (huge trout) in Mongolia....I know a guy for that too.
I love the challenge of needing to know just enough about everything to point my clients to the correct professional. I'm not the guy who can tell you the best route to go back-country skiing on Sacajawea Peak...but I know a guy. And when that guy has a friend/acquaintance who is thinking about buying or selling real estate in this area, he won't be the one to do it.....but he'll know a guy as well.
If you do not know these guys/girls in your area...go meet them. You'll be happy you did.
