Yesterday the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, the "T", announced that it has begun work on a new transportation center located at the Hingham shipyard that will connect bus, train and boat services. According to the T, the $4.5 million multilevel building would include a public waiting area, a terminal for the MBTA commuter boat and MBTA bus, a ticket office and rest rooms. The plan would require no new parking, as the MBTA currently has more than 1,800 parking spaces across the street. The building is anticipated to be completed by 2012 and promises to help streamline commuting from the South Shore to Boston.
