Do photographs attract more comments than words?

Most of my blog posts are localisms that have few comments from real estate professionals. That is okay since my goal is to get calls from prospective clients.  When I post photographs, I receive more comments and compliments.

What is your experience with the marketing power of photographs in blog posts?

One of my daily activities is walks through my neighborhood in Kentlands, in Montgomery County, Maryland.  When I walk during daylight hours, I like to have a camera in hand. This month, the flowers have faded and I am seeking the colors of winter in Maryland.

I used my Canon PowerShot G11 camera for these pictures. Photographs by Roy Kelley. A new form of beauty may be found as life declines.

Depends on who is doing the writing my friend. If you are a good writer, with good grammar skills and catchy titles I would stick with words. If not, incorporate pictures in everything you do.

Roy,

Like Morris says, it depends on who is doing the writing and who is taking the photos. Your photos are always so well composed and the colors breathtaking. Thank you

Roy, I would suggest that it depends on the topic.  Some posts are directed to advertise, some to network, others to motivate, etc.  Your photos of the flowers are a good reminder that the cold weather has arrived on the east coast!

Have you ever went to a blog and saw about 10,000 words with no pictures or paragraphs really to speak of?  I have and would say it could be the best blog ever but I rarely stick to them and read them, so I think pictures are improtant as they help grab and keep attention.

Roy,

I really enjoy your photos that you use in your post's and in your comments.  I just love it when I wake up in the morning and log on to AR and there is a comment from you with a beautiful picture.

In the SEO training class I took here on AR they suggust that you use photos that you can link to area's in your community.  I also agree, that when you use a picture in your post it gives it something of interest that adds to it.  Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos with us.

I think any time you can enhance a story, whether it through vivid photos or word pictures, it draws the reader into the story. Your photos and stories are always spot on!

Hi Roy~  I very seldom read posts that do not have photos or clipart.  So I would say it definitely makes a difference.

Hi Roy -- You are such a prolific blogger -- I'm very impressed!

I have found that my posts with good photos get far more comments than those that don't, but I think it is partly because of the groups I post to at that time.  When I have good photos I include them in the photography groups and I think those groups get more lookers and commentors partly because the posts tend to be short.  My posts are almost always localism posts that do not contain catchy titles because I am going for SEO, so I'm afraid I'll never be one of those bloggers that receives lots of comments.  It would be fun, though!
