Seattle Sundays Aren't Just For Open Houses

Snowshoeing in the Cascades

Today it was raining in Seattle and most likely that meant snow in the mountains. With two buddies I headed for the hills and we went on a snowshoe shoe adventure. Part hiking in the snow and part geocaching. From parking the hike was two hours up hill. A search of the area and we came up with the prize. Then back to the car. If you think Seattle is nothing bu rain all winter, have another think. Plenty of skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and snowboarding within 90 minutes of the city. Get out and have fun.

Glenn, was this at Mt. Rainier? Snowshoeing is something I've never attempted.

Glenn, I've never heard of geocaching before, but glad I learned something new today... sounds like fun.  And what did you put in the cach for the next person?  Hope by now you are sitting by a fireplace.  2 hours one way!!

Ellie - we did drop two geocoins for the next finder. Just sitting down to a delicious beef stew made by TrueCompanion.

Cinnamon - Thank you, young lady. More pictures on Facebook. Friend me.

Glenn - Very cool! I have always loved the Seattle area. It was always very nice when I was there. I was told the whole rain story was made up to keep Northern Californians home!

Peter - Northern Californians are okay (that's really southern Oregon). Seems like those from further south moved here in 88 and 89 and then all returned in 90 because it rained twice (for 40 days each time).

Glenn--Fantastic photo!!  Love the woods on a snowy day.  Wish I had been in Seattle to join you on Sunday, but I do plan to cross country ski this afternoon.

Mary - Erie gets its fair share of snow for sure. Have fun out there. I love that it is so quiet in new snow and then little children show up and the sound is so gleeful.

That is a gorgeous picture! I've done some geocaching in San Francisco, but never in the snow (obviously). Looks to be a very enjoyable Sunday!
