NEW BUZZ.....The 800 LB. GORILLA, NOW 650 LBS (GIVE OR TAKE)!

Fellow realtors and industry friends,

I'm in the office this morning, ready to organize, tackle goals, and get ready to make money this year.  I can't help but wonder (and even procrastinate a little) WHAT WILL THE BUZZ WORD BE IN 2011?  How about:

  • RECOVERY
  • OPTIMISM
  • FINALLY THE MARKET IS BACK!
  • OLDER IS WISER(?)
  • UPSWING
  • NOWHERE BUT UP
  • REACHED THE BOTTOM, MOSTLY
  • SUFFICIENTLY KICKED TO THE CURB, DONE WITH THAT!

It's Monday morning the second week in January 2011 and I don't think it's my imagination.  Taking into consideration I am always a half glass full kind of gal, the real estate world is breathing easier.  The 800 lb. gorilla, though still in the room, feels lighter today.

We have all certainly learned (and maybe even learned to capitalize on) some new buzz words these past years....short sale, foreclosure, BPO, Activerain!, Smartphones, Mobile Apps, absorption rate, foreclosure rate, tax lien, acceleration clause, FHA, VA, historic low rates, GREEN, GPS, Street View, assessed value, tax appeal, mechanics lien.....I could go on and on.

The point is that I am excited to hear your thoughts on what the new buzz will be all about in 2011...I really hope it's something like "the 800 lb real estate gorilla is losing weight."

Happy New Year, be prosperous!

In commercial real estate, one of the considerations has to be, "cash is king".

I agree with Joe, though I have found many buyers to be extremely cautious in today's market and a few sellers being quite stubborn in terms of what they think they can get for their homes. I hope the "gorilla" doesn't turn into a stubborn "mule" and that a few more folks will get off the fence and into the game while rates are still very low.
