Green Closing Gift - Biodegradable and Non-Toxic

By
Real Estate Agent with NatureWise Realty 310362

I recently started giving my buyers a Green closing gift - and every one has absolutely loved it! For the ones who are green-savvy, it's right up their alley. Those who had no idea how to convert their homes to bio-degradable, non-toxic cleaners get to see just how easy it is. The kit includes the first biodegradable cleaner ever made - in 1960! The products were recently featured on Oprah, in her Going Green episode.

The Get Clean Starter Kit:

  • Includes all the products and cleaning tools needed for a healthier, non-toxic home.
  • Replaces 830 bottles or boxes of conventional ready-to-use cleaning products used in the house, kitchen and laundry -over $3400 of equivalent cleaning power.
  • Helps reduce over 100 pounds of packaging waste from landfills and eliminating 248 pounds of greenhouse gases, when you purchase the Get Clean Starter Kit instead of ready-to-use products.

The company that manufactures these products has a strong environmental heritage - they were Green Before Green Was Cool!

Whether you choose to try this kit or create one of your own, this makes a great gift. And what a legacy it leaves if they continue to use them!

WOW Nina, how cool is that?  So you give closing gifts eh?  I can't tell you how many houses I've bought and sold and not one realtor has given us a thank you gift.  I certainly remember that whenever I recommend a real estate agent to my friends :-)

Hi Nina--

Great idea to have one pre-packaged!  I've been putting together my own mostly green "mountain survival" closing gift package that includes recycling bags (our program here is different than I've seen in other parts of the country), flashlights, something that is personalized for the specific buyer--one had been joking about all the snow shoveling he was going to be doing, so yes, I got him the locals preferred shovel too!

Sounds like a great gift, too. Personalized for your locale and all.

We were just looking at the weather in Tahoe yesterday. We used to go there a lot and stayed in a TH in Kings Beach. Since my in-laws sold it, we've only been there once or twice. Loved Truckee and rafted there a couple of times. Will keep you in mind for future business.

Hi Nina--

Too bad you haven't been here much since the TH was sold.  We had such a beautiful summer!   But we're starting to get cooler nights already.  Last week, when I took my daughter to school at 7:15, there was frost on the windshield!  Time to get the car back in the garage!

NinaGail - I just clicked over and checked this kit out.  It's amazing!  And what a great closing gift.  It's something most homeowners would probably not buy for themselves because of the initial cost.  But replenishing used products, especially seeing how economical they turn out to be and how GREEN they are, is a snap afterwards!

Thanks for visiting me.  A thoughtful comment has been the way I have found many wonderful bloggers I enjoy reading now. =)

NinaGail - great ideas for gifts! There are companies out there far ahead of their time that have always had environmentally friendly products and practices. Thank you for highlighting one of them! This is a great way to spread the word!

Shaklee products make an excellent gift (see my blog post from 7/28/2007).  It supports your EcoBroker business and clients love it.  Check out my other "green" closing gift ideas.  I think you'll find a few more ideas you'll want to share.

A "green" closing gift idea is brilliant.  I always give a closing gift to my clients just so they will know how much I appreciated their business.  This sounds like a great way to do something thoughtful for the client and someting positive for the environment.

Hi Nina,

I am so glad that you like the Shaklee products.

I am now in my 26 th year as a Shaklee Business Leader as well as a licensed Real Estate Broker.  One of the agents in my office has given 3 clients the Complete Get Clean Kit and I decorated it so that she can present it to her client.  I am so grateful for the added exposure to my Shaklee business. I have a 2 websites and offer a deep discount to Real Estate agents.  I have not promoted myself in this fashion before but when I saw how you enjoyed the products I decided to comment.  I could say so much more but I will stop here. Best, Pat

How awesome Pat! I concentrate the bulk of my efforts on real estate also but find that the Shaklee connection is such a natural tie-in. (no pun intended) As Realtors, we work with families on such a personal level and see first-hand the choices they are making, Not always healthy.

All the best. Nina
