Have You Told Your Friends About Their Blind Spots?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Skunk HatI'm a BIG believer when you identify you core 5 to 10 confidante type true friends in either your business or personal life touching them ALOT with your communication. Communication NEEDS to be a two way street to be effective and if they don't reciprocate eventually they should seriously not be considered one of those rare confidantes in life. It is their problem if they go away, not yours, as you wanted them to stay. But....

Have You Told Your Friends About Their Blind Spots?

This is an invaluable mirror back to your friends of things they just are not self aware about themselves. Like their incessant fidgeting, always playing the role of the doormat or DIVA, talking over people, talking too loud, how about body odor problems? Someone has to speak plainly too them, and WHO other than a great friend? THE TRUTH hurts sometimes but a good friend or confidante WILL ALWAYS give it to you straight!!

Likewise, have you learned of blind spots of your own, close others have told you about?? Did you take the necessary steps to address them?

Gary: I lov ethis post--it is so important for people to have friends who will tell them the truth!  Most of the friends I have know tht I will tell them what  they need to hear--that I will tell them s it does not hurt them and that if they don't act on what I tell them they can be sure I will not be around long. I have always been this way---I only hope other people would be the same way with me ...thanks for the great reminder!

Gary,

Your hat stinks!

If a friend cat tell you, you remind him of a skunk, who can?

My closest friends and I are always giving each other a hard time... of course we do it in a funny and amusing way... but some of it is true.  And we know it... but humor helps to get the point across!

It is good to have your faults pointed out, just remember when you point out others...do it kindly.  You may be eating the same crow later.

Hi Gary, A good one. Yes, I believe in constructive ( helpful) criticism and I follow it. I celebrate it because obviously someone cares and what can be more wonderful than that!

Gary,

I have a couple of really good friends with which I have that type of relationship.  The best part is that they are both in and out of the profession....and we seem to have some of the same strengths and weaknesses so we both reassure and help each other out that way....

Gary,

This was the mantra when I worked in a corporate environment. I've gotten away from it since I've been in Real Estate. Point well taken.

Hi Gary... if you can't count on your friends to tell you the truth, who can you count on?

I can't think of anything worse than faking your way through simply to be on the inside track, eventually you'll be derailed.  When it comes to true friends you must be brutally honest!

Seriously, there is not one thing I would change about my friends- I love them the way they are.  If I was asked about something I would say the truth Gary, and if they wore a skunk cap, I sure would tell them it stinks!

Gary, I think it's important to tell your friends like it is.  Of course, that's if you can handle them telling you like it is.  I prefer to be on the up and up with people. Otherwise you may find that your relationship is just smoke and mirrors.
