Rate Yourself on These 11 Points to Master in 2011Dr. Wayne Dyer said, "You are only stuck if you decide to be.  So decide differently."  These wise words were reflected in a webinar recently presented to EXIT Realty associates across North America by newly appointed VP of Technology and Innovation, Jeff Lobb.

Jeff invited the real estate agents in attendance to take a long, hard look in the mirror in the following 11 areas of their professional lives and rate themselves on a scale of 1-5; needs work to great!  Then they were instructed to ask their colleagues to anonymously rate them too.  Now that takes guts! Give it a try. 

1.  Your Image
  • how does your personal image fit into the field of real estate?
  • follow your brokerage rules for dress and decorum, but as a rule of thumb you should mirror your customers - executives? rural farmers? 
2. Your Knowledge of Personality Types
  • master the understanding of a system like DISC or something like it
  • if you know and understand your customers' personality types, you can direct your presentation to them they way they want to receive it
3.  Your Presence
  • how are you perceived, as a part timer or top producer?
4. Your Marketing
  • reevaluate all of your marketing, both online and off 
  • are you effectively marketing?
  • you need to market YOU
5.  Your Sphere
  • can you identify your sphere of influence?
  • do you have a good database to stay in touch with them?
  • if you don't stay in touch with your sphere, someone else will
6. Your Colleagues
  • do you have a good relationship with them? You may need them to cover your business while you're away or they may be able to refer business to you
  • they may refer business to you
7.  Your Savvy
  • are you tech savvy enough to do well on presentations?
  • can you demonstrate the technology you will use to your clients?
8.  Your Time
  • many people who are now successful started at zero and they have the same amount of time in their day as you
  • do you dawdle or are you purposeful?
  • don't get bogged down with administrative work
9. Your Likeability
  • no matter how sharp you are with your gadgets, your clients have to like you and trust you
  • find ways to be more helpful and likeable
10. Your Accountability
  • many salespeople aren't effectively accountable to anyone 
  • who's your accountability partner?
11. Your Fears
  • what keeps you up at night?
  • what do you hate doing, fear or just don't want to do?
  • set a plan to move from fearing to conquering - remember what Eleanor Roosevelt said; "You must do the thing you think you cannot do".
