WHAT ARE NEIGHBORS FOR.............

Years ago neighbors helped each other out when they needed help. Nowadays that's changed quite a lot. People tend to stay more to themselves.  As a kid I can remember going next door to borrow an egg or a cup of milk or  sugar.  The neighbors didn't mind in the least , they were happy to oblige...

WHEN YOU CAN HELP A NEIGHBOR DO IT..........Helping out a neighbor in need is the right thing to do I thought.  Well that's what I did the other day.  My neighbors power was out for a couple of days due to burner/ furnace issues. I told them they could use our extra  bathroom to shower and so they did.

YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE SHOE MIGHT BE ON THE OTHER FOOT........ so as I was taught to  "Love thy neighbor as I would myself."

Hi Russell,  What a nice neighboor you are, I could tell you were a good guy the first time I saw your picture.

Some people are too proud to "ask for help" but if someone asks them if they need help they open up more.

Love it!!

Very thoughtful blog. We live in a rural area and the closest neighbor is an elderly lady about a quarter mile away. We used to take her food and liked to  visit with her...you sparked me to keep doing it!

Out here in ND I'm always amazed when people tell me they don't know who their neighbors are. I think in every home I've lived in I could name every house holder on my block , most of their kids, dogs and cats. When ever we move we have a neighborhood barbeque in our backyard and go on getting to make more friends from there.

That was such a nice gesture you did to assist your neighbors, and these good deeds usually come back to you twofold!   Good job!

Hey Bob,

That's the kind of a neighborhood I grew up in too. Knowing neighbors names as well as their kids and animals, that's the way it was.  It's different these days over all but depending where you live I think has something to do with it.

Thanks for the comment/

Patricia, the "neighborly" thing has really changed over several decades!    I think there are places where neighbors all get together when the need is there!   What a great Pay it Forward, WTG!

Patricia - Hubby and I have always felt so blessed that we have some of the best neighbors ever.  They have been there for us and looked out for us and our home on so many occasions.  Rest assured, hubby and I are always happy to return the favor as well.

So much about what we fell in love with about our current home was the way we felt the first day we came to see it and there were kids and parents all up and down the street talking to each other.  When we parked and got out, people actually waved at us and said, "Good Morning".  We were half sold right there.

Good neighbors are not only hard to find, they're also a blessing.

Hello Trey and thank you for the comment, I enjoyed it!

You are a good neighbor for sure.  The lady probably feels good, safe and comfortable about you being near. In case of emergency you could help her.

The 2nd greatest command from Jesus is "You must love your neighbor as yourself".  Something  we should all practice and you displayed that nicely when you invited your neighbor into your home.   Love of neighbor is not just a feeling, it involves action. ^5 Patricia.

Thanks for stopping by to comment and say hello.  I'm glad you liked the post.

As far as being featured?  who knows?? there's no rhyme of reason. I've yet to figure this "featured post" thing out. If you find out let me know please.
