The GOOD News about the weather today in Santa Fe, where temperatures are chilling us out at -7 degrees this evening --- IS the weather has replaced the housing market news and chatter everywhere. Although our real estate market stats for January show a market in action, the buyers still on the fence are now pre-occuppied with the artic temperatures, the flight cancellations and everything else connected with the word "snow". They are missing the real story buried in snow.
In spite of Santa Fe's record cold temperatures today, a quick review of our Santa Fe Association of Realtors data for the month of January show our market is far from ice cold! In fact, it is beginning to warm up. Here is what happened overall. There were 214 sold properties in January 2011! The average sale price was approximately $425,000. It is clear our market is thawing out in spite of all the negative media stories about real estate. Hopefully, by the time it warms up again everywhere, we all might discover some good news under the snow.
