Celebrating Reagan's Birthday

I think Reagan was a great president, and I look back on his administration with fond memories.  I have a photo on my wall that I treasure, taken of my mother, Fern Weston,  and President Reagan.

At the time this was taken in my mother's home,  she was the President of the Republican Party of Palm Springs, CA.  and she said she was elected because she had the biggest living room. I think this must have been taken when he was first running for Gov. of Calif.  Actually, she was a good Conservative and she knew her reasons for her party affiliation.  I also have a photo of her with Barry Goldwater, but I will save that for another post.

Too bad one of her eyes is closed, maybe she is winking.

Wow....that's great! I too loved Reagan and miss him and his common sense, intelligent, strong approach to things. Alas....

You must have been very proud, and obviously still are and should be!  Ronald Reagan was one of the best Presidents this country ever had.  Wish we could find another just like him to step up to the plate!

Thank you for sharing!

Sandra - Great photo!  Reagan had the ability to focus on issues and to get them resolved . . . without playing political games.  He was the last "leader" our country has had.

Most people don't realize Reagan was a DEMOCRAT until his daughter, Maureen, OPENED his eyes!

Sandra - what a great piece of memorabilia to have, your mother's picture with the future president Reagen. I will admit, I was not a Reagen fan in the 80's, still had democrat leanings, but, I have develope an appreciation for his accomplishments in the subsequent decades.

Mike, it seems a lot of people are giving Reagan more credit for what he accomplished as they look back on his years in office.  I was stunned at the press reaction to his passing, and the accolades they gave him.  I think Bush will have the same retrospective for all he did for freedom in this nation and around the world.  Hopefully we are seeing some signs of that in Egypt.  Thanks for your comment.

Sandra- That is really a wonderful photo. I am jealous that your mom got to meet the great man himself.
