Judsonia card from 1910 now on ebay. Train, wagons, strawberries and a car!

I think that is right.  I wasn't here when the tornado hit.  I think that Judsonia was the strawberry capitol.

Searcy even was into strawberries.  I used to cap strawberrys after school right across the street from where the Jr. High school is now. East side of the school.  I think they paid 75 cents a crate for capping.  That has been a few years ago, so I could be wrong, but I think that was the wage. That was the 'good ole days', but I could buy a pair of anklets for a dime, too.

Ya'll are making me hungry for Strawberries.  Willard got some for $2.00 just the other day...not bad tasting either.  It seems a long time to strawberry season though.

I have heard all kinds of stories about the big tornado in Judsonia but I didn't know that Judsonia was the strawberry capitol prior to that time.  I only knew about Bald Knobs claim.  No matters...just bring on the treats!

I see a history book in the making just by printing off old blog post...what do you think.  You have all kinds of lessons the practical, the whimsical, even sp"a"lling!

Dare I even think to ask...where did the name Judsonia come from?  Jud had a sony?  Just wondering ... it isn't like a name I have heard much.  I know that Sowell was different for me too but I found out that it is a family's name.  You guys have taught me about how Bald Knob was named so...does anyone have a clue?

I had to look it up to be sure my memory was accurate, but...Judsonia was named for a Babtist missonary named Adoniram Judson.  The town was founded in 1840 by Erastus Gregory and was originally known as Prospect Bluff.  A. Judson founded a Baptist University there in 1871, which "died" in 1883 (the University, not Judson).  This information came to me originally through association with W.E."Skinny" Orr  who expounded daily on the history of Judsonia when our offices were located down the hall for each other back in the 70's/80's.

Looks like Ms Barbara will sleep easy thanks to Ms Mary.  Interesting names...you don't hear names like that anymore. 

We are fighting with Nutsy's relatives.  He thinks he is going to win and take over Luke's closet.  They have run him out again and invaded his inner domain.  He knows about pellet guns so that didn't work...we have reclaimed the closet...ran him out of the attic again...and since we are snowed in and limited on supplies...we are seeing how he likes a box of mothballs...placed in his special hiding spot.  Maybe he won't like then enough to stay away for at least a little while.  Nothing like a challenge.  He is wayyy too familiar with all the nooks and crannies but we are learning...stick to the trees nutsy...we don't want to mistake you for a wayward relation.  You pick your friends but not your relatives.

Yes, I do remember the peanuts in the coke.  I did that sometimes.  Good memories.

Nutsy...you are adorably cute dressed as strawberry shortcake...you look like you are drippiing with sweetness in this little outfit...why would you need to hide in any tress...you certainly would not be mistaken for the squirrels on crack in our neck of the woods. 

Sean got close enough he just missed our dear pest with a hammer.  Stephen was outside with pellet gun and he saw the thing jump out throwing a fit but didn't get a shot.  The little rascal is smart.  He had been coming into the attic from all ends and as we would close them off we couldn't figure out where he was coming in at or where his little hold up was located.  He is smart enough that he chewed a hole in Luke closet so that heat would fill his little space and has a back door in the siding on the highest part of the house.  All he needs is a tux and a sports car and he would be 007.  His days are numbered.  I got a photo of him the other day...twitching his little tail and rolling his big eyes...looking all innocent and weak...He doesn't fool me any...I'm a PETA...People Eating Tasty Animals activist.  We are patient and now we know the secret entrance to the hole in the wall gangs location.  He hasn't got a chance.  This cousin to the rodent is about to HIT the ROAD!  Sorry, but another one is going to BITE the Dust if he doesn't choose Dusty's Tails (trails).
