For those of you that are Seinfeld fans, you'll understand the title....if not, sorry you missed it (very funny episode).

I really need some help here. I NEED to make a charitable donation. I'd love some feedback on great charities, and recommended amounts to donate. What is the charity of your choice, and why?

My Grandpa lost his life to Lewy Body Dementia this year.

With the wonderful love and support of Hospice of Palm Beach he died with dignity to a cruel disease.

Word cannot express how wonderful it was to have a facility like this. Warm loving nurses, home like setting and very supportive system of doctors, pastors and therapists. They were able to sit and talk with the family and truly cared. If you want to donate- they would be an excellent organization that gives dignity to death.

Oh yes, George's "Human Fund", I remember it well, a Seinfeld classic.

One of my favorite causes to support is WomenInLiteracy.org which helps to educate women in 3rd world countries.

Hi Shaun, Here's the link to one of my favorite charities. Feeding starving children. What else can I say.

Shaun,  I think the best thing you can do for people is "teach them to fish" - give them the means and the support to help themselves and others. My favorite charity is Heifer International - ending hunger around the world, including right here in the U.S.  What sets this organization apart is the requirement that people who receive animals and training also agree to "pass on the gift" of their animals' offspring to others in need in their community.  Heifer makes a difference, and I feel strongly enough about them that I've started a series on my blog making a donation each week to the end of the year in honor of someone who has helped me along the way.
