OK so the concrete is poured and has been allowed to set, the next phase is to remove the frames, which is done after a few days. The re-bar on the footing is pushed down and will be encased in the concrete that will be poured for the floor.

The house at Lot 31 will have a walk out basement and patio so the walls were only poured on three sides. The basement will have a bedroom, a full bathroom, office and large den. After the walls have set they need to be waterproofed before the dirt is pushed back up against them. The walls are painted with a water repellent and then a water proof backing is applied. There is also a drain and pipe to channel the moisture away from the walls.

Oh my goodness.  Don't you just love to watch a home being built.  I certainly do.  I do a picture tour of the process to give to my buyers.

Hi David -- What a fun post. My wife and I once built a new home and while there were a lot of decisions, it was so much fun to watch and see the progress.

Sometimes there are the, shall we call them, issues related to building.  My parents told of coming out to their build site one weekend and finding the chimney bricked over.

Good luck!

This is great... I think a lot of folks wonder what all of the steps are when building a home. Now we have a great resource.

How exciting!  I still barely remember when my house was being build.  I actually helped my dad construct the second floor.  Best wishes.

This is great, the diary of your home build...we have a Clayton California as well, and it's a beautiful place to build a home also.  Good luck with that.
