Some exciting news has just been released regarding the Rural Development Funding program and East Baton Rouge Parish. Azalea Lakes and Hoo Shoo Too Lakes subdivisions have now been approved to participate in this program! This is fantastic news for those of you who enjoy lake/water living, great amenities and beautiful homes.
If you are not familiar with the Rural Development (RD) program, here are a few quick program facts:
- Must not currently own a home or have a mortgage
- Must have a gross income of less than $74,050 (for a family of 1-4) or $97,750 (for a family of 5-8)
- You can finance 100% of the value of the home
- Mortgage is a 30 year, fixed mortgage with no pre-payment penalty

It's a great program designed to assist getting people into homeownership in what are considered rural areas. I'm happy to recommend a couple of local mortgage brokers that specialize in RD financing if you have additional questions or would like to participate in this program.
