My little "burg" of Mission Viejo (not really mine, I just live and work here) was recently named the safest city in California and the second safest city in the nation! This according to a recent report published by Morgan Quitno Press for cities with a population off 75,000-99,999 residents and is third safest in the nation overall, without regard to population. The safest city, according to this same survey is on the other side of the nation, Brick Township, NJ.
In another report by the Orange County Sheriff's Department, the total number of traffic collisions has decreased an average of 23% over the past six years. This is a pretty good statistic considering that the volume of traffic has surely grown during that same period.
Folks, this is a great place to live. In addition to our beautiful lake, with a backdrop of Saddleback and Modjeska peaks, we are surrounded with wonderful recreational areas, community centers, and a brand new library. Pools, tennis courts, golf courses/country clubs, jogging paths, and sports fields abound along with a world class shopping mall, restaurants of every variety, and top rated schools (like Oneill Elementary, La Paz Intermediate and Mission Viejo High School) make this city the place to call home. And the weather is fantastic; as my friend says,"sunny, blue and 72."
